Public Education
My kids attended award winning Round Rock schools, and as a Trustee and former President of the Round Rock School Board I worked hard to make sure our classrooms were fully funded and staffed with terrific, professional teachers. All Texas school children deserve the same level of commitment and investment in their futures.
I will work:
To get the leadership in Austin back on track and make public schools a funding priority
To staff Texas classrooms with certified, competitively paid professional teachers
To look for equitable solutions to funding Texas schools. Texas benefits from educated kids, we should share the cost of their education fairly.
Transportation
I spend at least an hour and a half in traffic each day as I travel to and from work. Williamson County is growing and how we get to where we’re going has been the cause of great discussion and disagreement.
I will work:
To find solutions that gets all of us out of traffic and to our homes safely
To prevent roads we’ve already paid for from becoming toll roads
Healthcare
As a Round Rock School Board Trustee, I know that the best students are those that show up for class healthy and ready to learn. Making healthcare accessible and affordable is fundamental to all Texas children and families.
I will work
To pursue federal matching funds that will ease the price of healthcare to Texas taxpayers
To restore the Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and enroll all eligible children
To evaluate services for our elderly and increase funding for programs that honor and care for our seniors
Higher Education and Training
As a single mother and full-time manager at the Comptroller’s Office, I worked my way through college. Now, I’m helping my children make their way through college. I understand how tough it is on a budget to get through school.
I will work:
To bring public universities, technical schools, and community colleges within reach of working parents and kids
